Hey everybody!
The ramen video went up about two weeks ago, and we'd love to get your thoughts on it!
what worked:
- the idea of a spicy ramen challenge was really good! based on engagement and views at the time of making this blogger it seems that the student body has really enjoyed the video, and it did a good job at letting the student body get to know the participants
- the video editing itself was entertaining! so far from everybody I've talked to said that they've loved the cutaways to different memes and the zooming in, and I think it made the video a lot funnier
- filming logistics: the system that the project leads worked on to have people sign up, to have them record, and to have them turn in the footage was all very streamlined and it made it really easy to start editing and to find footage
what didn't work:
- the donation collection and donation process! the project leads were all kinda confused as to whether the cost of the ramen was factored into the budget, and as such it led to confusion for the participants as to where their money was going. to be clear, it all ended up getting donated to the second harvest food bank, but that was definitely the biggest issue with the project
- the pr plan changed a bunch throughout the project timeline, and although we ended up getting everything out on time and according to our adjusted plan, it made it harder for PR and for us to change the plan and to add graphics to fit the changes.
- the video itself was also a little long, and I think that in the future breaking it up into different ones could work better.
the big question we as project leads have for you guys is do you think this model of a q&a is expandable? do you think it'd be possible to open up to more members of ASB, to staff, or even to the student body?
thanks!

Hi Tech!!
ReplyDelete- Overall great job, I really like the idea of the spice ramen challenge esp. since it's something new and works well over distance learning.
- Editing wise, I thought the cutaways and memes in the video were well integrated and funny.
- For the Q+A formatting of the video, maybe cut out some of the questions that go unanswered(at the start a few of the questions were avoided) to make the video shorter and more entertaining.
- Near the end of the video, it was a little hard to hear what some of the CP's were saying.
- I think that the q+a format could definitely be opened up to ASB, staff, and the student body. However, with the student body it may be hard to get participants and have problems with logistics(with cookbook we had problems of people backing out/not sending videos on time). But the format is entertaining and could for sure be used in the future!
hi tech!!
ReplyDeletei love hot ones, and i think that this was a really creative project idea! the video was well edited, super funny and a good watch.
I think it would be even better to expand this q and a into other people in the student body, or club officers so that it's less of an asb exclusive event. if it was a club officer q and a, the money could go to the club's funds? i think that there are a lot of future possibilities for a q and a series!!
if we ever do this again in the future, or just in general i guess i know that a lot of people are super flaky like and don't like to volunteer for things, but i think if we ever return on campus, we can try a q and a video again and it would gauge more interest because of word of mouth and pr would be easier etc.
that is all! wow good job!!

hey tech!
ReplyDeleteto start off, this project was super fun to watch come together and it felt like a super chill, feel-good event overall which was really great!! i also thought the promotional graphic was really cute and effective so that was awesome. on terms of PR, the project was promoted pretty well imo on terms of the video, but i agree that the fundraising aspect could've been further promoted. perhaps this could've been done through having the second harvest food bank logo on more of our promotional pieces so that students associate the event with donations to shfb?
if we do this event in the future, i think it would be really interesting to see questions asked to members of the staff so the the student body has a chance to see their teachers/administrators/coaches outside of a school/work environment. i think one overall thing that was really interesting about a project like this is that no matter if you were watching or participating, it felt like you were learning something new about the people involved. the spicy ramen challenge was a super fun and easy way for students to get to know their ASBOs and if this could eventually extend to more of the faculty/students at Lynbrook then it could potentially be a great opportunity to connect people at Lynbrook.
this project was so fun to watch come together and i'd love to see future projects like it!

Hi Tech!
ReplyDeleteThis event was super cute :) As someone who participated in filming, I thought the process was very fun and the ramen was very yummy. A few things for the future: I think it'd be better if the questions were a little more casual and funny. Some of the questions were rather deep, for example I got one that said, "What advice would you give to underclassmen?" and while that's a great question, I thought it didn't really fit the comedic vibe of this event. I also think we can include some "quick-fire" questions, so people can get lots of content in a short amount of time. In regards to the donation, I think it could've been promoted a little more. Maybe putting it at the end of the video (if it wasn't already there). Otherwise, great job tech! This was such a fun and creative idea, and I can't wait to watch it again next year!

Hey Tech!
ReplyDeleteI really, really like this event! I personally really enjoy watching hot wings, and the video was extremely entertaining. I personally can't comment on the production process since I wasn't involved in it, so I'll just discuss the finished product that I was able to see :)
I personally felt that there could've been a deeper dive into the question! The comedy was there and the spiciness and interaction between the interviewees was amazing, but I personally would be interested in hearing them try to discuss more topics that could actually reveal more about themselves. I know there was a time constraint, but for the future years if you consider expanding into a series or consider longer videos, those are all things you could consider.
Overall, fantastic job!
Hey Tech!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with this event! I think students enjoyed watching their fellow peers suffer from all that spice:(, but I think it was a little hard for the participants.
It took about 4 hours for me to upload the video and a lot of storage on my phone. I would consider cutting the video down in the future, but I guess the video may be filmed from one camera in the future (in-person). Overall, loved it!

hi tech! (i actually wrote this comment already but it got deleted :( )
ReplyDeletegreat job on the spicy ramen challenge, it definitely was entertaining to watch. however, it was quite a long video and breaking it up might have been easier to consume (haha). i know this was kind of a "test run" but it would be funny to incorporate other students into the process as well. another thing was that it seems like the questions varied a lot. imo the shorter, quick fire questions are more fun and keeps you on your toes, as the deeper questions take more thinking and were a little bit more personal. it would be interesting to find a middle ground, where the questions bring up discussion but aren't too deep. im with jj with the uploading thing, i had to do it overnight for it to full load into drive. other than that, great job tech!
Hi tech!
ReplyDeleteFirst up, really great job on the video! I think it was really funny to and interesting to watch! My only suggestions I think would be for the cp's parts and possibly filtering out the questions more to be deeper and more interesting if possible or just shorten the vid (it was getting a bit difficult to watch through all of the last part). Other than that, I loved it!! So again, great job!!
Hey Tech!
ReplyDeleteI loved the idea of this event and thought the video turned out great! It was a little bit long, but I think all the parts you added into the video were exciting. The edits made it a lot funnier as well, so good job! If you plan to do this again, you should release each group (CPs, ASBOs, and Advisors) on separate days, so the video is shorter and only captures highlights. Another way that the video might be more entertaining is by doing a livestream. I think people watching it live, commenting, and asking questions would make it more interactive. I think you can definitely expand the number of people eating the spicy ramen to more ASB members. Another way you can involve more people is by asking club presidents or officers to join the challenge. That way it's not just ASB in the videos, and students could ask different questions. Overall, you guys did a really good job for a new event, and I hope to see another video second semester.
hellooo
ReplyDeleteI think this project was very creative and very well done. I think editing in the questions in text when they are asked will make it a lot easier for the viewer to differentiate between the conversation and a new question because sometimes its hard to hear people over zoom, and it would just help identify the segments. The editing really added to the video a lot, so definitely keep doing the zooms and meme cutaways and you could also try adding sound effects. I think releasing them staggered instead of one video would be a really good idea, and it could also help with PR because you could post them on the ASB IGTV as well. Like Emma brought up, it probably would be better to separate the lighthearted questions from the deep ones, like doing the humorous questions towards the beginning and the more meaningful ones towards the end, or to just choose one type. I think a lot of people would enjoy it if we could open it up to other teachers on campus outside of admin. It turned out really funny!
Lots of Laughs,
Rachana
hihi
ReplyDeletei had a pretty good time watching it, but I think 14 minutes is a long time for people to just sit there and watch. there were some pauses that could definitely be cut out and i think it would be more fun if it was just more fast paced in general. i really liked the zooms and transitions u guys used. and i would like to see more funny questions than serious ones cuz i assume the point of the video is just to have a laugh and less of an educational one. but yea it was a really fun idea!!

ReplyDeleteHi tech!
ReplyDeleteThe spicy ramen video was really entertaining to watch and my friends said they had a good time watching it too. I felt that there were some awkward pauses, especially after deeper thinking questions. I think that making it rapid fire with bizarre questions would make it a lot funnier to watch and would garner even better reactions. The editing was amazing though and it did a good job at serving its purpose to entertain the student body during quarantine. I think it can be opened up to anybody as long as the logistics of ramen distribution are feasible and participants speak with a "filter." Great idea and hope to see it become a yearly thing!
hello techhh!
ReplyDeleteawesome job with the spicy ramen video, i thought it was a really fun spinoff of the hot wings challenge :)) i really enjoyed watching through the video with my friends, it was really entertaining and the editing was also really funny and added a great touch(go pranay!!) i think that having everyone on a zoom call and having them interact with each other also made it more interesting as they were all able to talk to each other and point things out to the audience as well.
i would say that my only suggestion is to maybe make it a tad bit shorter, maybe between 7-10 minutes to ensure that only the best clips make it into the video. asking more questions to allow for better variety in answers may help, and also having questions that require a longer answer versus some questions that have shorter answers, which i think you guys did incorporate a little in this video.
great job again though, i loved watching the video!
GREAT JOB TECH this idea was unique and fun to watch. Some things if we repeat this event:
ReplyDelete- Have 2 videos, one for students and one for faculty/staff
- I think the donating might have actually conflated the event or made it overly complex. I think we could maybe combine this with a clink effort and have students at-large donate and as they do, we promise them that specific staff or ASB members will have to eat spicier noodles or smth like that
- The editing was great and the final product was super funny --> possibly in the future we can make it into bite-sized versions and use our snapchat (which has been forgotten) to release promo vids
- stagger questions as mentioned above (light hearted to deep advice q's)
Can't wait for the next one!
hi tech!!
ReplyDeleteyou all did such a fantastic job planning the spicy ramen challenge! it was such a fun idea and i had a lot of fun trying it out. we need to incorporate more of these challenges and (answering your question at the end) get student participation, too!
ideas for next time/suggestions:
- maybe having club focused challenges (e.g. officers from a club do a popular challenge like the spicy ramen one and talk abt their club).
- maybe have the questions be more expandable (this might take away the aspect of students asking the questions but would improve the video!) because we had a hard time expanding enough so the answers were interesting as well
- possibly give discussion topics instead so there is more of a natural conversation flow
what i really liked:
- the editing was AMAZING (obviously cuz y'all are tech haha, but fr good job!!)
- rules were clear and food was delivered on time. organization was great
hope this helps and i hope we can have more of these!
:)) anika
Hey Tech!
ReplyDeleteNice job with the new event! It definitely attracted a lot of attention from the students, and was a great use of initiative in terms of coming up with new events during remote learning. My only concerns had to do with the questions while we were eating; because we were also having a natural conversation at the time, the pre-prepared questions sometimes came off as out-of-place or artificial. Perhaps in the future, the ramen eaters can be explicitly told that they can have more prerogative with questions, or we can set up an Instagram live where students can tune in and ask questions immediately. While we did have the Google Forms/App asynchronous question suggestion form, I'd imagine that students would be more engaged if they got to ask questions live rather than for a video in the future. Of course, that would radically alter the Tech/video editing aspects of the current event, but maybe it's something we can consider in the future.
Great job!
heyo!
ReplyDeletewhat a SPICY event!! good job planning and executing this out! being a first time event it went really well and i definitely enjoyed having my insides burn up :D
some things for next time is:
1. figuring out a better payment and donation system
2. getting better questions to asks; either by more SM spams or form though homeroom or instagram live
3. more clarity in emails and instructions prior to the event
other than that, great work!
Hi Tech!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I thought the video was quite entertaining to watch and I had fun participating in it as well. Similar to the other suggestions above, I think it would be nice to have more out of the ordinary questions and less deep thought questions in order to keep the run time shorter and produce more entertaining footage. Overall, great event!
Hey Tech!!
ReplyDeleteSuperb job on the video! I think the idea was super unique and entertaining and definitely made everyone involved seem way more approachable (not that they aren't haha). Just some quick feedback:
- like other mentioned some of the videos were a bit lengthy(still entertaining though!)
- some of the questions did get a little repetitive so maybe if there was a way to try and get more questions?
- Editing and transitions were sooo good!!
- I think this would definitely be feasible in the future(even in person live!) if virtual maybe ramen could be picked up in a central location (office) and questions could be delivered 2-3 weeks in advance and if in person I think that this being in the quad live could be super fun to watch.
Overall Amazing job tech!! I can't wait to see more ;)
hello tech!!
ReplyDeleteI think this was a really out of the box idea and it's super cool to see you guys maximizing virtual learning! just some comments:
- I think I just wondered if the student was actually interested in watching asbo's do it? I enjoyed it and thought it was super funny but that also might be bc I know some of those people personally! I know y'all mentioned it but for future rounds I think it'd def be valuable to make it more school inclusive and include people like staff and maybe even regular students
- donating is a super good idea but it seems like it's pretty tough this year with the wildfire fundraiser as an example! I wasn't actually aware it was a donation based thing for a while haha so I think it'd be good to get the message across stronger
- just like others have mentioned, it was a pretty long video but I actually thought all the parts kept in were entertaining so I guess some options to consider are splitting up the people and having shorter videos or just trying to cut down the video even more to keep just highlights
overall though, I don't have much to say and I thought this was super creative!!
hi tech!!!
ReplyDeletei really loved the idea and execution of this project and felt that it was one of the most creative projects tech has done in a hot minute. for the video itself, the editing was funny and so were the majority of the interactions, but there were some serious questions and moments where the vibe was shifted-if it's meant to be a comedic video, I feel like it could have been better to keep all the conversations more humorous.
for length, rather than cutting down, it could be beneficial to release multiple parts (maybe an episodic series like the Bachelor in past years). I had no idea that it was donation based, so potentially highlighting that in promo.
echoing what others have said, I think we tend to overestimate the average student's investment in ASB. events centered around individuals from ASB never generate as much buzz as those centered around staff etc. so maybe switching the subject of the video could be benficial! that could be staff or even opening it up to more students.
good job ++ congrats!
Hey Tech!
ReplyDeleteSpicy Ramen Challenge is definitely one of my favorite events from this year and I personally had a lot of fun filming it as well! Although I thought the editing and whole filming process was really fun and exciting, I do have a couple tips that I think could really make the next year's event better! One thing is revamping the questions between officers. If you guys have ever asked hot ones, a lot of the questions are quick and personal that not only allows for interesting answers but also the continuation of the discussion. Adding additional segments like deep dives into each other's instagrams or other fun activities along with direct questions can really make the video much more interesting!
