Senior Advice Video

hi everyone! as you know, we recently released the senior advice video and are still promoting  it but would love to hear your feedback! an overview: - featured 8 seniors with a variety of paths (naval school to community college to different majors)     - it was difficult to find people doing some of the less "traditional" paths - filmed at kevin moran     - scheduled with google sheets - we vetted their responses beforehand by asking them to send over messages - released on may 21st!     - instagram story spam     - email from lee - asked the following questions:  What are your after high school plans? Why did you choose to go down your path (college, gap year, etc.)? When did you realize what you wanted to do? How? How did you choose what college to apply to and your major? What was your essay writing process like? What did you focus on content-wise (anecdotes, high school experience, etc.)? If you could do high school again, what would you do differently? How has COVID im

Business Spotlight

hi asb!! clink did our small business spotlight this past year! this included two Instagram posts that both featured two businesses. some more details: -  business spotlight originally began as an online marketplace idea where we were hoping to connect Lynbrook students to businesses of other students in a marketplace of some sort. we weren't able to do that because of school rules, so we decided that because we still wanted to do something for/with small businesses, we'd turn it into an appreciation and recognition based project.  - a form was sent out in the beginning of the year (emailed and PR video) for businesses to sign up to be featured. several did and we posted them! - businesses that had Instagrams were tagged and the post were ran by them before we posted! feel free to let us know any thoughts and suggestions you have!  <3 clink

pr video(s)

what's up asb!! PR definitely has not forgotten to outro the last couple pr videos or decided to combine the last couple pr videos into one project, so feel free to give some feedback on what you've seen from the last [few] pr videos! what went well: - choosing better locations(trying to stay away from the parks that we normally film at like rainbow or kevin morant) - trying to incorporate better script and visual transitions throughout the video - being stricter on how much time each commission got -> led to more efficient filming - sending out consistent reminders to commissions who signed up -> made sure that we could check scripts and that the commissions had plenty of time to review and memorize their own script, made sure that people came to filming on time as well - having more meetings with tech to improve the vision for each video, better communication also made editing and filming go smoother  - may pr video LOL pranav had a lot of great ideas for more unique s

Thank you to all of you and your friends who participated and/or watched the video! If this is what a virtual Lip Dub looks like now, We can't wait for an inperson one in the future! Some things that went well: - many people enjoyed it!! - 700+ views & 30+ likes in less than 24 hours - many participating groups, staff and students enjoyed the process of making their zoom clip and coming up with ideas - able to show some of the new campus + released a final video after 4 years Some things that didn't go so well: - YouTube processing delay =  1 day push back 5/7->5/8 - late submissions/missing submissions from signups = 1 week push back 4/30->5/7 - mask restriction caused a HUGE plan shift very late into the process - team structure shift + disorganized at the beginning  What we learned: - have more sign ups than what you use + make sure they u

Movie Night Feedback/FAQ

Hey everyone! Thank you for coming to the movie night test run on Tuesday, 4/6! Here's a quick reflection: Things that went well: Screen was good; movie was visible from far away Audio was clear People had fun :D Things that did not go as smoothly: Set up (projector, speakers, etc) took a bit long (first in-person event so it's understandable) Screen was flying around Social distancing: the seating was not very strict; people lying down/leaning=less social distance To-do's before the actual event: Order strings for securing the screen Finalize seating chart/map of the quad & leave more room for each person's social distancing "bubble" Promotions & miscellaneous things (preregistration, etc) We would love to hear your thoughts/experiences from the movie night! Please also feel free to comment any potential questions so we can answer them in a FAQ during the event promotion.

Charity Week

hi everyone!! thank you to everyone for donating to charity week! 2021 won the class competition so the proceeds went to mental health america. what went well: - raised $330! - more participation compared to Wildfire fundraiser - promoted well     - instagram spam (thank you PR)     - facebook infographics (thanks Marissa :))     - email to whole student body      - announced in homeroom  - teacher pieing videos well received (thx mr lee) what we learned: - very tedious and difficult to donate online      - long process          --> led to low participation  - hard to incentivize - no more online fundraisers this year probably  - there were a lot of problems with the link to donate     - website cache wasn't cleared, many people couldn't access website           --> coordinated with MV admin and fixed website issues for future use - mostly ASB participation  - mixup with pieing supplies for teachers--> hard to communicate/coordinate, should start contacting earlier  t

Match-O-Matics

Hi all! We just finished distribution for our goodie bags and wrapped up Match-O-Matics last week. We'd love to hear your thoughts on our event: What went well: Very high participation (~160 students filled out the form) Promo went smoothly; PR vid, graphics, email Cameo in the PR video Goodie bags were pretty substantial while fitting within our budget What could be improved: “Retention” rate: around 70-80 pairs made but 12 submitted Asking for email/grade in the matching form from the beginning Some questions felt like fillers and did not help in the matching process Distribution was slightly delayed Made a mistake with the first email and had to send out a correction What we learned: The website we used for our matching form showed us a lot of analytics about who started the form and never finished, what questions had the highest drop-off, and more; a lot of people come to check out the form but don’t actually submit Incentives aren’t enough to prompt social

spicy ramen challenge (staff edition)

hello everyone! last week tech released the spicy ramen challenge (staff edition) on the asb youtube channel, and we'd appreciate your thoughts on it: what went well: - the staff members seemed to have had a fun time filming  - the video is a good way to learn more about Lynbrook staff members what didn't go well: - the video is very long (40+ minutes) so people could've lost interest (it was also more difficult to edit) - some staff members might've prepared the ramen wrong, because some mentioned having "soup" when it should've been a sauce, which probably diluted it and made it less spicy (so next time adding instructions on how to prepare the ramen) - we probably could've done more promotion, because we only posted a trailer on instagram some questions for future versions: - some staff members recorded themselves on their phone and some forgot to do so, so for the future would it be better to just keep the video in gallery view or try to have indiv
